  • Post-UTME screening score of not less than 180 (subject to change).
  • In addition to the above, candidates must make Akwa Ibom State University 1st choice to qualify to write the Post-UTME Screening Test.
  • Candidates who score less than 140 on the Post-UTME screening test are not eligible for admission into any programme in AKSU irrespective of any higher scores obtained at UTME.

AKSU Admission Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To apply for admission into AKSU through DE, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum of credit passes in five subjects including the English Language at SSCE, GCE O’Level or equivalent qualification.
  • Either A’ levels, OND or NCE in relevant subject areas.
  • An acceptable score in the Direct Entry Screening Exercise.
  • Final selection is based on a combination of the candidate’s certificates and scores in the direct entry screening test.

AKSU UTME Screening Requirements

If you are applying for Post UTME admission, you will need the following:

  • 2023 UTME Result slip showing candidates’ photograph in colour
    WAEC/NECO/ NABTEB Certificate results
  • JAMB admission letter
  • Birth Certificate /Age Declaration
  • Certificate of Origin
  • Certificate of Medical fitness from

    Letter of Recommendation

AKSU Direct Entry Screening Requirements

  • 2023 DE Registration Slip (Direct Entry applicants only)
    HND, ND. NCE, A-level certificate, etc. (Direct Entry applicants only)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Certificate of Origin

AKSU Departmental Admission Requirements

B.Sc. in Public Administration Admission Requirements

UME Entry:

  • 5 credit passes in relevant subjects including English, Math, and Government

UTME exam through JAMB

Direct Entry:

  • 3-year degree in a relevant field
  • Professional certification in a relevant field
  • Apply through JAMB
  • Transfer students may be eligible for exemptions

MPA Admission Requirements

  • 1st degree from an accredited university
  • 3 years work experience in public/private sector
  • Students with unrelated degrees may need to take extra undergrad courses or complete the PGDPA program first

M.Sc. Admission Requirements

  • Minimum 2nd Class Honours degree in Public Admin or equivalent
  • Meet the general postgraduate regulations of the university

PhD Admission Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Public Admin with at least 60% average
  • Meet general postgraduate regulations
    B.Sc. in Public Administration Admission Requirements

UME Entry Requirements:

  • 5 relevant subject credits
    UTME exam
  • Direct Entry Requirements
    3-year degree
  • Professional certification
  • Apply through JAMB
  • Transfer student exemptions

How to Apply for Admission to AKSU

To apply for admission into AKSU, you need to follow these steps:

  • Visit the JAMB website and register for UTME or DE, depending on your qualifications.
  • Choose AKSU as your first choice of institution and select your preferred course of study.
  • Please print out your JAMB registration slip and keep it safe.
  • Visit the AKSU website and follow the instructions to complete the online application form for post-UTME or DE screening.
  • Pay the required application fee and print out your acknowledgement slip.

  • If admitted, accept your admission offer on the JAMB website and print out your admission letter.
  • Pay the required acceptance fee and school fees as instructed by the university.
  • Register for your courses and attend the orientation and matriculation ceremonies.

AKSU Admission Deadline

The AKSU postgraduate admission form for the 2024/2025 session is available online, and the last date for submission is December 22, 2024. The AKSU undergraduate admission list for the 2024/2025 session has also been released, and you can check your status on the AKSU portal or JAMB portal. The AKSU post-UTME form for the 2024/2025 session was closed on October 14, 2024. The AKSU will stop giving admission to 2025 candidates on May 25, 2025.
